Worker
Worker
pastel, charcoal, red ochre paper, 33.8 x 25.4 cm
The work integrates Leon Alex's tendency to look for characters through which to reproduce social issues. One of the artist's favorite themes is industry and its effect on a person. We can also look at this work as a representation of the „new man”, of the proletarian who through his work manages to free himself and earn a living. Such an approach seems to be highlighted by the red background of the paper, as well as by the features similar to those of Lenin that the artist lent to this unknown worker.
