Examples such as Velazquez’s "Venus" or Klimt's "Danae" are among the most sensual female nudes in art history, which, like Gombos Lily's work, bring to the fore and accentuate the character's bare thigh.
Reflecting the libertarian fashion of the interwar period, with which the artist is familiar in Paris, the female character with oxygenated hair, short haircut and bright red lipstick, fits the prototype of the modern woman.
The work is chromatically intriguing, because it combines all the primary colors and green, in pure forms, but what makes this combination not seem excessively tiring is the alternation with large white and cream surfaces, and the variety of textures in which the colors are combined.
The artist studied at the School of Fine Arts in Budapest, and since the 1920s settled in Paris. The work reveals the influences of French modernism, being treated with a vivid color palette and light brushstrokes. The frame in which the character is placed allows the artist to use pure colors.
